Myrkgrav is a one-man folk metal project founded in 2003 by Lars Jensen in Norway. The aim of this project has been to blend the traditional side of Norwegian folk music (with the use of traditional instruments) and the extreme/harsher side of metal. The fans have been waiting for a debut album for a while; the recent release of this project has been “Vonde Auer” which has been released as a single on 2014… 2 years after this release, Myrkgrav is (kind-of) back with an interesting full-length record. At the same time, a chapter is closed in this project as this release can be considered as a farewell from Mr.Jensen. Mallevs Maleficarvm is a melodic black metal band/project. Hailing from Germany, this project was formed by Marius Berendsen in 2012, who is also the drummer of the German black metal band, Thyrgrim. The project has recently released the debut album called “Homo Homini Lupus”. The record features guest musicians; some known names include Robse from Equilibrum (yes…the funny guy of the band!), the former Bethlehem vocalist Alexander Schmied and Vorna vocalist, Vesa Salovaara. Irij has been one of those ; formed by Meri Tadic, who has gained ‘fame’ as the former fiddle player of Eluveitie, the one-woman project has been going strong ever since its birth. After having released the first debut album “Same Zgode…” in 2014, Irij has gained a loyal fanbase that has been growing slowly but steadily.

Wolves Den is a German black metal band. Formed in 2014, the band consists of 2 former Equilibrium band members, one of them being the former vocalist Helge Stang. Although the band is relatively young, they have been making themselves known in festivals and gigs throughout Germany; the band has become popular not only among the old Equilibrium fans but also among the fans of this genre!

The band has released their latest record “Deus Vult” (Latin word for “God wills it”) in 2015. I normally do not review records that have been released a while ago but after seeing the band in Dark Troll festival this year, I was quite impressed with them so I decided to make an exception!
